Most vehicles on this page use the factory 8-inch SYNC 2 / MyFord Touch or MyLincoln Touch system. Ford Fiesta and Transit Connect use a vehicle-specific screen configuration and require their dedicated SYNC 3 upgrade kit. Vehicles originally equipped with a standard factory 4-inch system require a different conversion.

SYNC 2 to SYNC 3 Compatibility FAQ
How do I know if my Ford or Lincoln has SYNC 2?
SYNC 2 is also known as MyFord Touch or MyLincoln Touch. Most supported vehicles use the factory 8-inch touchscreen. Fiesta and Transit Connect use a different vehicle-specific screen configuration. If you are unsure, send us a photo of your current screen along with your vehicle year and model.
Are Fiesta and Transit Connect also SYNC 2 to SYNC 3 upgrades?
Yes. Compatible Ford Fiesta and Transit Connect vehicles are upgraded from SYNC 2 to SYNC 3 just like the other vehicles listed on this page. They use a dedicated kit because their screen configuration differs from the standard 8-inch setup.
Can I upgrade a standard factory 4-inch screen using this kit?
No. Vehicles originally equipped with a standard factory 4-inch system require a different conversion because additional components are needed to convert the vehicle to an 8-inch touchscreen configuration.
Does the SYNC 3 upgrade include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto?
Yes. The SYNC 3 upgrade supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with compatible smartphones and the appropriate USB connection.
Is the SYNC 3 APIM programmed before shipping?
Yes. All Things Sync programs the SYNC 3 APIM to the VIN information provided with your order before the kit ships.
Do I need FORScan to install the upgrade?
The APIM is VIN programmed before shipping, so you do not need to program the APIM yourself with FORScan for the standard supported SYNC 2 to SYNC 3 conversion.
What is the difference between the navigation and non-navigation kits?
Both kits provide SYNC 3, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The navigation version also includes built-in Ford navigation. The non-navigation version can use Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
Will my factory features still work after the upgrade?
The system is programmed for your vehicle to retain supported factory features. Equipment can vary by vehicle and trim, so contact us before ordering if you have an unusual configuration or want to confirm a particular factory feature.
My year and model are listed. Does that guarantee compatibility?
The correct factory SYNC 2 configuration must also be present. Model year alone does not confirm the original equipment. If you are unsure, send us your year, make, model, VIN and a photo of your current radio screen before ordering.
